Corvo privacy policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
Corvo is a language-learning app made by Treehouse Studio LLC ("we"). This policy explains what data the app uses, why, and who handles it. In short: your progress stays on your device unless you create an account, and we don't sell your data.
Data that stays on your device
- Your learning progress: the words you've learned, your reviews, test scores, streak and settings.
- The name you choose to enter (optional), shown in the app and on your diploma.
This data is saved in your app or browser storage on your device. Without an account, we don't receive it. Deleting the app or clearing your browser data deletes it, and you can reset it any time in Settings.
Data sent to our services
Some features need a server. When you use them, the data below is sent to our server, which passes it to a processing partner and sends the result back to you.
- Speaking exercises (microphone). When you tap the microphone, a short recording of what you say is sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to turn it into text, so the app can check your answer. The microphone is only used while you're doing a speaking exercise, after you give permission. We don't store the recordings.
- Pronunciation audio. To play words and sentences out loud, the text of that word or sentence is sent to Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. No personal data is included.
- Corvo's voice. Corvo's spoken lines are made by sending the text of the line to ElevenLabs. No personal data is included.
- New stories and your own words. If you ask for a new story, or add your own word to practice, the words involved are sent to Google's Gemini service to write the story or fill in the card. No personal data is included.
Audio and text produced this way may be cached on our hosting provider so the same word doesn't have to be made again. Cached items contain only the word or line, never anything about you.
Hosting and logs
The app and its server functions are hosted by Netlify. Netlify keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and requests) to run and protect the service. We use logs only to fix problems and prevent abuse.
What we don't do
- No selling of your data.
- No access to your contacts, photos or location.
Accounts (optional)
You can use Corvo without an account. If you create one, we store your email address, your password (only in a protected, hashed form we can't read) and a copy of your learning progress, so you can sign in and continue on another device. This is stored with our database provider Supabase, on servers in Frankfurt (EU). Only you can read your own progress.
We use your email address only for your account, for example to send a link when you forget your password. We don't send marketing emails.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → "Delete my account". This removes your account and the progress saved online straight away. Your progress on your own device stays until you remove it.
Future features
If we add features that use more data, such as advertising, we will update this policy before they launch and explain what data is involved.
Children
Corvo is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them.
Your rights
Because your progress is stored on your device, you control it directly: you can reset or delete it at any time. For any question or request about your data, email us and we'll answer within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
